‘Radicalisation’ at Arabic classes: NIA searches in TN, Hyd

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 31 locations in Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad, targeting Islamic regional study centers that were allegedly being used to radicalize youth through Arabic classes. The NIA seized cash, incriminating books, and electronic devices during the raids. The agency stated that the October 2022 car cylinder blast in Coimbatore was linked to these radicalization activities. The searches were conducted in Coimbatore, Chennai, Tenkasi, and Hyderabad, including the residence of a DMK councillor.
