Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, launched a new app called Threads. In just five days, Threads gained 100 million users, setting a record for the fastest 100 million downloads worldwide. However, by August, there was an 80% drop in daily active users and the average time spent on the app decreased from 21 minutes to three minutes. TRG Datacenters analyzed the popularity of social media apps and found that Instagram was the most desired app to delete, with over 1 million people searching for how to delete their accounts every month in 2023. Snapchat also had a significant number of users looking to delete their accounts, despite having 750 million users.
