US health officials identified Taco Bell's shredded lettuce as the source of a Cyclospora outbreak. This parasitic infection sickened over 1,600 people and led to 94 hospitalizations across five states. Investigations traced the contaminated lettuce through the supply chain to a farm in central Mexico. Taylor Farms voluntarily removed its iceberg lettuce from the US market and initiated a recall.
